Σε συμβατικό πλοίο
Αν ταξιδεύετε με συμβατικό πλοίο (όχι ταχύπλοο ή ιπτάμενο δελφίνι) κανονικά θα υπάρχει χώρος στις σκυλιέρες και μπορείτε να έχετε το σκύλο μαζί σας σε όλους τους εξωτερικούς χώρους του πλοίου (κατάστρωμα) αλλά όχι μέσα. Παρότι επαφίεται στη διακριτική ευχέρεια της εταιρείας, συνήθως δεν υπάρχει θέμα. Ωστόσο καλό είναι να έχετε μαζί σας ένα φίμωτρο και να έχετε πάντοτε το σκύλο σας με το λουρίΤα μικρόσωμα σκυλιά και οι γάτες μπορούν να ταξιδέψουν και μέσα στο πλοίο αρκεί να βρίσκονται μέσα στο ειδικό κουτί ταξιδιού ή σε τσάντα μεταφοράς.
Η καλύτερη επιλογή, για ένα ταξίδι χωρίς έγνοιες,είναι να κλείσετε μία καμπίνα κατοικίδιων (pet cabin). Πρόκειται για κανονικές καμπίνες με τη διαφορά ότι δεν έχουν μοκέτα στο δάπεδο. Είναι διαθέσιμες και για ταξίδια που γίνονται στη διάρκεια της μέρας σε λογικές τιμές. Έτσι δεν θα χρειαστεί να ανησυχήσετε αν θα βρείτε ελεύθερο χώρο στις σκυλιέρες και τόσο εσείς όσο και ο τετράποδος φίλος σας μπορείτε να χαλαρώσετε και να απολαύσετε ένα ξένοιαστο ταξίδι. Τον Ιούλιο και τον Αύγουστο τα πλοία έχουν αυξημένη κίνηση και πολλοί επιβάτες ταξιδεύουν με κατοικίδια.
Σε ταχύπλοο και ιπτάμενο δελφίνι
Τα ταχύπλοα και τα ιπτάμενα δελφίνια διαθέτουν επίσης σκυλιέρες, ωστόσο σε πολύ περιορισμένο αριθμό. Επιπλέον, στα περισσότερα ταχύπλοα (αν και υπάρχουν εξαιρέσεις) δεν υπάρχουν ανοιχτοί χώροι (καταστρώματα) προσβάσιμοι κατά τη διάρκεια του ταξιδιού οπότε δεν μπορείτε να παραμείνετε έξω με το κατοικίδιό σας. Βέβαια αν είναι μικρόσωμο και πάντοτε σε ειδικό κουτί ταξιδιού ή τσάντα μεταφοράς, μπορείτε να το έχετε μαζί σας στους εσωτερικούς χώρους επιβατών.
