The Marmaris Express includes two interiors lounges, a cafe and a reception area. The boat has two decks and a smoking area. It has a garage and accommodates up to 789 passengers.
The company belongs to the Alifragkis family. The ship of Karystia N.E. connects Athens with the two islands that are considered the gates of the Cyclades: Kea, and Kythnos.
Marmaris Express serves the Lavrio - Kea line on a daily basis and also operates on the Lavrio - Kythnos route.
No, Karystia Lines does not provide an e-ticket option yet.
You can go 2 hours before your departure to a central office of Karystia Lines and get your tickets printed. There are also normally booths or agencies at the port. Your ticket confirmation will have all the details.
Yes, Karystia Lines vessels are equipped with a specially designated kennel. Passengers travelling with a pet should hold their pet’s updated health documents and are responsible for the pet’s care, safety and hygiene. Unaccompanied pets cannot be embarked.
Children are considered minors aged 5 to 10 years old and infants from 0 to 5 years old.
Aircraft seats are numbered and booked in the name of the passengers. They are convenient ferry seats and slightly more expensive than economy seats. Passengers can walk around, go to the open deck or the economy lounge, enjoy all the ship's facilities and then return to their seat.
In Karystia Lines ferries there are only economy seats at the inside and outside deck.
From our website, you can book your tickets up to one hour before your trip.
Yes, we accept PayPal and if your debit card is issued by Visa or Mastercard then you should have no issues paying by debit card.
From our website, you can book your tickets almost one year in advance.
However, Karystia Lines seasonal routes (those not available year round) may not be bookable far in advance as the ferry companies may release their sailing timetables not far before sailings begin.
This can be as a little as 2 months. So if you don't see a sailing available this doesn't mean that it won't become available later in the year closer to the summer period. Please check back frequently or send us an email for an approximate date of when timetables may be released by the ferry company.
In accordance with European Directive 98/41/EC, it is mandatory to register the names of all persons on board for every trip. For the purposes of registration, the tickets state the passenger's name, sex (male/female), age (adult/child/infant) as well as their contact details.
We also ask for your phone number so you can be easily informed in case of a trip cancellation due to force majeure or schedule modifications.
In summer because Karystia Lines ports can be chaotic, if you are travelling by foot, please arrive at least one hour before your stated departure time.
If you are travelling with a vehicle, please arrive at least two hours in advance.
You will be informed of all cancellations or changes to your ferry schedule either by us or Karystia Lines directly.
However, in the summer months delays are normal and you may not be informed. You have a few choices when this happens.
Talk to the port police. Most ports in Greece have men and women whose job it is to keep everyone safe. They'll be more than happy to update you about the estimated time of arrival (ETA) of your ferry.
Find a local travel agency. Many ports will have a nearby travel agency. Even if you didn't buy your ticket from there, they act as informal tourist information bureau and will be glad to help you.
Last of all is the best trick. Download a ship tracker app on your phone or visit a ship tracking website. Myshiptracking.com is the site that most ticket agencies use in Greece because it gives you an updated ETA. A good app to use is Marine Traffic but this will not give an updated ETA but it will show the current location of your ship.
Please note that to use these apps or sites, you must know the name of your vessel (not just the ferry company). You'll find the name of your boat printed on your ticket or your booking confirmation (no matter where you buy your ticket from).
In addition, if you don't use an e-ticket you can print off your ticket at one of these central agencies. Some agencies may charge a small fee for this (for example 1 euro). You can also go to central agencies for general information or to change your ticket.
