Getting to and from the port

By car

From Naples take motorway A3 and leave through “Vietri sul Mare” exit. From Rome and Caserta take motorway A30 and at the end of it (after the toll station) take the “Avellino-Salerno” highway (E841) with direction Salerno, leave through exit “Salerno Centro”, and follow signposts “Porto”. From Bari Avellino use motorway E841, leave through the “Salerno Centro” exit, and follow signposts “Porto”. From the South of Italy, take motorway A3, leave through the “Salerno Centro” exit and follow signposts “Porto”.

By Bus

There is a bus service along the Amalfi coast operated by Sitabus, connecting Salerno, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. Keep in mind that buses fill up quickly, so make sure that you have enough time to reach your ferry. You must purchase a ticket before riding the bus. Tickets, schedules and routes can be picked up at tobacconists around town or at the station. A 24-hour bus pass can be purchased for €6.80. Bus service is available from early morning to late in the evening throughout the city. There are several bus stops in and around town, but the main bus stop is located inside the train station.

By Train

Regional and metropolitan trains leave from Naples Central and Naples Piazza Garibaldi for Salerno with an average frequency of 15-20 minutes. Journey times range from 40 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Salerno Metro covers the city and allows you to reach the Arechi stadium from the historic center in about 15 minutes. By Taxi

As Salerno largely relies on tourist activity, taxis are readily available at the port and throughout the city. Taxis can easily be identified by designated taxi lights atop white vehicles. Keep in mind, that all taxis within the city are required to be metered and the price must be displayed. The taxi service is very useful for those who want to move around in comfort or reach the most popular places of the Amalfi Coast: Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Sorrento and Vietri sul Mare. Also to reach tourist destinations like Paestum, Agropoli, Sapri, Marina di Camerota and Palinuro, the taxi could be a viable alternative. An indicative cost is €35 from Salerno το Amalfi Coast Airport and €100 from Salerno to Naples Capodichino Airport.

On Foot

Due to the size and nature of the port, it is not convenient to walk to the city from the ferry terminal.
