There are 4 ferry companies operating ferries to and from Bodrum. Exas Shipping Service, Lafasi Marine, Makri Travel and Sky Marine Ferries all operate ferries to and from Bodrum. In the summer season, there are a total of 32 sailings per week.

The most popular route in terms of sailings is the route from Kos to Bodrum with 25 sailings per week.

The port or island closest to Bodrum is Kos with a distance of just 20 kilometres - that's 12 miles or 11 nautical miles. While the port or island furthest away is Rhodes at a distance of 130 kilometres - that's about 81 miles or about 70 nautical miles.

Bodrum port is located 36 km from Milas International Airport and a pleasant 10-minute walk (3 km) from the town and all the shops. The ferry port and the cruise port are in the same location and simply use different areas in the port. The ferry port should not be confused with the marina in the town, which is used for pleasure yachts, private vessels and some tourist boats. An information kiosk at the port provides detailed information about ferries. The port is a medium sized port and is generally very busy but is busiest in the summer.

Island hopping around  Bodrum

Between May and October, there are daily ferries to the nearby Greek islands of Kos, Rhodes, Leros, Patmos, Kalymnos, Samos and Symi at affordable prices. You can go to any travel agency in Bodrum and get a Greek Islands visa for 30-35 euros. Sailing times vary between 20 minutes and 2.5 hours, depending on the distance and speed of your boat.

Bodrum port facilities

Transport-wise, the port of Bodrum offers a paid shuttle bus service to town (prices are nominal), a taxi station, and a car rental service. Other services include Setur duty-free shops, public Wi-Fi, a kebab restaurant ("Kebap Guru"), ATMs, public phones and, a guest information center. The port is wheel-chair accessible.

The port has been awarded a Safe Tourism Certificate issued by the TÜV Austria Turkish Certification Training and Surveillance Services.

There is a free parking area with a capacity of 100 passenger cars. Migros supermarket (a wellknown chain in Turkey) is also near the port as you head away from town.

Getting to and from the port

By car

The port is easy to reach by road and well signposted (note that signs may be for the cruise port). You should have no problem finding it but make sure you don't confuse the port and the marina which is in the town and not for commercial ferry services.

By Taxi

The taxis are yellow with signs on the roof and are readily available near the port. Taxis are metered, and you can either hail one on the street or book one through an app.

By Bus

Dolmus is a shared minibus service that runs along fixed routes in Bodrum. It is cheap and ideal if you are traveling in the city or to nearby villages. You can board a dolmus at the designated bus stops.

Note however that the shuttle service from the airport to Bodrum town has been temporarily suspended since September 2023.

On Foot

The town is only 3 km away from the port and you can walk to the town center by the seaside with shops, restaurants and cafes.

Flights to Bodrum The closest airport is the International Bodrum Milas Airport (BJV), located 36 km from the city center. In the summer there are lot of direct charter flights from Europe. There is a bus line between Milas/Bodrum Airport and Bodrum city center, the Havaş Shuttle, but for the time being it has been suspended (since September 2023).

Ferries to Bodrum There are ferryboat and hydrofoil services from the Greek islands to Bodrum during the summer season. If you are already in Turkey and want to travel to Bodrum by sea, you can take a ferry from Istanbul or Izmir. There are also ferry services to Datca and Didim from Bodrum.
Bodrum is connected with Greek islands in the summer with Lafasi, Sky Marine Ferries, Makri Travel and Exas Shipping Service ferry companies. Furthermore, there are also tourist boats offering one-day cruises to and from Kos and other Greek islands although these often dock in the marina rather than the port.

Make sure you bring with you the required certificates and necessary supplies for your pet. Pets usually travel free of charge and are not allowed in indoor public areas or cabins.

If you don't get an e-ticket you will have to get a physical ticket printed by going to a co-operating agency or a ticket booth. To get your ticket printed make sure you have a printout or a copy of your reservation on your phone and a valid form of photographic ID, for example, your passport or ID card.
You can take your bike with you for free to or from Bodrum, if you travel on large ships. However, on ships without a garage, bicycles are normally not allowed inside. You'll see if the ship has a garage when making your reservation. Bodrum can be busy in the summer so it is a good idea to tell a member of the port staff that you have a bike in case you might need extra assistance.
